Call to Action (CTA)

A prompt that tells the user what action to take next, typically a button or link like 'Buy Now' or 'Sign Up'.

What is a Call to Action?

A Call to Action (CTA) is a marketing term for any prompt designed to encourage an immediate response or action from your audience. CTAs are typically buttons, links, or phrases that guide users toward your conversion goal.

Types of CTAs

  • Direct CTAs: “Buy Now,” “Sign Up Today,” “Download Free Guide”
  • Transitional CTAs: “Learn More,” “See Pricing,” “Watch Demo”
  • Lead Generation CTAs: “Get Your Free Quote,” “Request Consultation”
  • Social Sharing CTAs: “Share This Post,” “Follow Us”

CTA Best Practices

Use action-oriented verbs, create urgency when appropriate, make buttons visually stand out, and be specific about what the user will get. Test different variations to find what resonates with your audience.

Placement Matters

Place primary CTAs above the fold and repeat them throughout long pages. Secondary CTAs can appear in sidebars, footers, and exit-intent popups.
